Back to Calm

After energetic games, group play, or highly stimulating moments, it’s essential to offer children experiences that help them reconnect with their inner calm. Calmness isn’t something we demand, it’s something we invite. In this post, you will find 10 peaceful (and cool) ideas to help children slow down.

Let’s start!

Bubble songs for deep breathing

Invite children to sing a soft song while blowing bubbles. They can imagine inflating balloons with their breath or simply blowing the bubbles away. It’s a playful and effective way to practice deep breathing.

Sometimes, children just love bubbles as a game, so if this activity doesn’t help them calm down, try a different one. It all depends on how your kids respond to the idea.

Lying down with magical ceiling lights

Have the children lie down on blankets or mats while watching soft disco-style lights or star projectors on the ceiling. This encourages quiet observation and creates a peaceful, magical atmosphere. You can stay silent, play gentle music, or read a calm story as they gaze up at the ceiling.

Feather-Guided meditation

Use a feather for a gentle mindfulness moment. With this simple activity, children can feel the feather brush softly against their face or arms while listening to a simple guided meditation.

Silent drawing with music

Provide paper and drawing tools while playing soothing background music. Free drawing with no instructions allows kids to express themselves quietly and creatively.

Cozy corner with stuffed animals and soft music

Set up a cozy space with warm lighting, plush pillows, stuffed animals, and calming music. It’s a perfect spot for children to rest, cuddle, and self-soothe.
